If you feel like you’re on the verge of suicide, please take a moment to read this…

“If you’re looking for a sign not to kill yourself, this is it.” – Unknown

Beyond debilitating injury, pain and disease, part of what causes us the anguish that can lead to suicidal thoughts are feelings of hopelessness. A lot of this comes down to not living the life we feel we’re supposed to live. Or, perhaps we aren’t able to make the changes that we need. Its times like this that we start to feel like we’re caving in.

“If your heart is still beating, God is not done with you yet.” – Dillon Burroughs

Sometimes, the problems that assail us are all just a matter of perspective. Sometimes too, it’s hard to see that these problems are temporary and that things will change for the better. So we must be prepared to change our way of thinking; that is, how we see our lives and the world around us. Doing so can give each of us an entirely new purpose for living.

The path to finding happiness and purpose is to start small. It might mean finding some peaceful moments in your day that are exclusively your own. Perhaps it could mean scribbling down your thoughts into a daily journal, or simply coming up with ideas about what you’d like to change in your life, and then slowly, bit-by-bit, make the effort and begin. But it still has to do with how we see ourselves and the world around us.

“Plan on killing yourself? First, take some time to make the sun shine brighter, the earth glow bluer, and solve just one of the many problems that assail us all. See? You do have something to live for.” – Duane Hewitt

We won’t always understand what’s happening in our world – and we won’t always see how the days ahead will unfold. Life is finite, but life is always in flux and things do get better. There are reasons to look forward to brighter, happier days. And keep this in mind: you yourself may be someone else’s salvation in ways you never considered. There is a reason for you to be here and for you to take that next breath even if you can’t see it now. So please, hang in there.

“Before you decide to kill yourself, attempt the impossible.” – Duane Hewitt
